6th Grade Beginning Band
The concert band is the foundation of every instrumental musical experience that we do here in the band program. In Concert Band we learn the fundamentals of what it is to be a great musician. We focus on tone production and musicality from the very beginning, encouraging students to always make the best sounds they can achieve, while continually developing the technical mastery needed to be successful as a musician.
6th Grade Beginning Band is the start of that foundation for us. In their first year, students will learn the basics of instrument care, posture, rehearsal technique and of course, how to read and play music on their instruments. This is an exciting time for band kids and their teachers because there is so much new learning going on. Each day students will be learning new skills and figuring out how they fit into the world of music as an instrumentalist! 6th Grade Beginning Band is each students opportunity to explore what it is to be an instrumentalist and see how deep the interest goes. Students will differ on their interest level and that is okay! If you want to learn music as a fun way to express things, GREAT! If you hope to one day become a professional musician, GREAT!
